You want us to explain a new (or existing feature)? You don't understand the GEDCOM-Export? Or you can't use the photo upload? No problem. Post it here. We (and hopefully other users) will help you!

hypothesis:
- I am user x and I defined my tree
- There is also user Y who defined her tree.
And now, we just got married:

How do we share the tree. When I try to add her as my sibling, I can't because her email already exists ... When she tries to invite me, she can't (same reason) ... What to do?

Hi Obiwan,

We're currently working on a feature that allows to merge trees. Unfortunately, it's more difficult than one might think it is. But be sure, we're working on it and we'll announce it as soon as possible!
Until then, we'd recommend that you invite your wife with another email address and vice versa so that you can help in each others' trees.

With kind regards,

Hi

I think the development of this merge functionality should be within the users as well. You should share with us your view of what a merge funtion would have, the difficulties, what could be developed first, and after, etc.

For example, you could start with a merge of trees that don't have anything in common, like ower friend above. Then you would add other functionalities, like merge conflicted trees, when the same person is defined in both trees, for example, if my cousin has a tree and I have a nother, then ower grand parent possibly will be in both trees, then the software would present option of which tree it would get info from, or both, etc and etc...

I think you guys should be getting some early feedback from the user easlier than later....

my 2 cents

Currently, we're working on different approaches to tree merging and we'll probably release an unfinished version on a special test server. We will then ask very active and proficient users to test the feature in their tree.

Hi there, I'd be very interested in doing the beta test.

I'm usually posting more to the portuguese forum, as it is much more busy than the english version.

I gave a serious of advices in how the merging feature could be implemented, and it would be a pleasure to do it here also.
