I use GEDCOM to export and back up my family tree. From the hours spent, I have concern if the site closes shop.

Of course, GEDCOM does not back up everything. The photos are a major plus to any genealogy program and GEDCOM does not back up the actual photos. Since our photos are stored on an Amazon server, the path to the photos are coded within each profile. However, the actual photos are not available.

Therefore, to back up the photo, I down load each picture back into my computer. I find that if I label the photo with the ItOurTree profile ID number, I can more easily connect the photo with each profile. (I rename each photo with the ID number)

Therefore, my wish: Can you have the option of displaying the itsourtree id number? Therefore, I can copy and paste that ID number directly to the correct file name. Currently, I have to export the GEDCOM, use my GEDCOM reader, search for the file name and copy the ID number.

You can find the GEDCOM ID number by looking at the URL of the profile you are interested. It has 8 numbers and is preceded by the letter I, the common GEDCOM abbreviation for an individual. Therefore, there is no need for my request to have the ID number displayed.
