The site is great.

I'd like to see the following in rough order of priority

- an RSS feed for changes to my tree
- ability to see detail on exactly what others changed in my tree (not just that they made a change to a person's profile)
- enable RSS feeds for the forum
- ability to roll-back changes made to my tree (by myself or others)
- ability to better control access to my tree by others
- ability to export GEDCOM in character sets other than UTF-8
- ability to search across other trees for matches (this is a strength of Genes Reunited site)

Thanks!

I'd also like the ability to add a personal message to the standard "invite" email when you add an email address to the tree (and possibly for it to come from my email address).

Some of my tree-members assumed the standard message was junk email and ignored it.

Sorry - I'm on a roll...

* The ability for unregistered users to search for themselves and contact the tree owner to request access if they think they have found a match.

* The ability to join trees with other users where there are coinciding members.

Thanks, definitely really good ideas. We'll discuss them and see what we can put into practice!
We're actually working on some of the issues (e.g. joining trees). If you've got any other suggestions (or anyone else :) ) please postpostpost!!!!

Best regards,

You currently have "circa" dates.

Add the ability to tag dates as "before" and "after" as well.

Mapping is currently limited to birth places. Tt would be good to be able to add other places.

I'd envisage a map where you could say:

- show birth only
- show death only
- show birth and death
- show all places

Thanks.

The RSS feed for changes in your tree already exists. When logged in, simply click on the RSS icon in your browser's address bar.

The search feature has been revised as well, now you can search for others in all our 30 000 000 profiles!

Best,

Thanks. But isn't that feed for new relatives only? It doesn't seem to show edits or changes in the tree?

That's right. Currently, the RSS feed only indicates new relatives. We're planning to improve this feature.

There are a lot of great suggestions there and I am going to agree with them and hope that they will be implemented (especially the rss feed for updates)

Some of my own suggestions/wishes:

* The site in Swedish
* Ability to give friends permission to view your tree
* Some way of finalizing the connection between husband and wife and number of children for people you know the exact history. removes those add husband and children arrows.
* Have a complete expanded view of everyone on the tree. (I know this could cause problems with cycles)

I made this my wish as well. So far to get other relatives on the tree, if I don't know the exact relationship, this is not possible.

also, the order of the children has a bug, everytime you set to one child, the others get all lost.

Hi y'all!

To address some of the remarks posted:

@lostontheprairie: We wish we knew in advance... ;-) Among other reasons, servers can be slow when the media report about us, the servers become flooded in no time. Of course, we can't always know in advance.

@darran & obiwan: We'd love to add this feature, but data protection is an international issue and we're still checking our options to obey all applicable laws.

@darran: One of us is just right now developing a "complete" view of the tree. This is quite difficult when people have several thousand profiles in their trees.

With kind regards,

the itsourtree.com Team
