I have already created a family tree using dynastree home edition with 25 members and saved it then exit. However when I downloaded the file again it appears only one child in every family, while I put input mostly at least 2 to 5 childs in every family . How it could be?. Is there any member face dificulties as I did?? Is there anybody could solve this problem. Please help me. Thank you.

I have never had that. Fortunately you have only 25 members so it is easy to redo.

Let me understand what you did: You downloaded the GEDCOM and then uploaded the GEDCOM to a new dynastree site? Or are you using the home PC dynastree to read the gedcom?

I am uing PC dynastree free downloaded promram ( no conecting with the internet) to make the tree. I did first time with almost 300 members. I didnt relize that the problems happen. By that I almost completed with almost 350 members I saved it and then downloaded the file again. Only one chlid appears in every family. So I did again a new one with 25 member and save it with a new file. Then I downloaded again and the same problem appeared. Only on child appears in every family. When I go the list all of the members are there but most of them no link to their parents.

ok, so you are generating your tree using the PC dynastree program only.

From what I understood, you did not generate a tree on the internet but are using the stand alone PC program?

That makes me worried that the stand alone program is corrupting the data when you try to modify it.

Why are you using the PC Dynastree? If you are using a stand alone PC program, there are many free ones. The Dynastree is only version 1.01 and is too new to rely on to protect your data. Look at Wikipedia under genealogy for more mature free PC programs. For me I have a Unicode issue, but there are still free PC programs which read unicode. Finally, GEDCOM is not a hard and fast standard and getting everything written on the Internet to translate to a PC program was the reason for the PC Dynastree.

I tend to use the PC program to just check the GEDCOM generated from the internet. Now with your observation, if the financial credit crunch closes Dynastree, I probably cannot rely on the PC version.

I am away from my home PC for another week. After that, I will play around with the home PC Dynastree and share my observation.
