Thanks for the quick response. I have responded to you in a private email. However, I want to share my work-around with the public.

First, you have such a powerful search function. It is much better than any stand alone genealogy program. What makes it powerful is that it searches for strings of text even within a word. This makes searching of combination names and hyphenated names possible. Congratulations to your foresight.

The difference between the two search engines is that the upper right search navigator has an ‘OK’ button as well as a magnifying glass. The navigator in tree has only the magnifying glass. If you type Unicode characters into the either box, then the search works the same. If you do not have a keyboard layout for that language (I use Windows XP or Vista with a USA keyboard), then I need to paste the Unicode characters into the box. Then, the magnifying glass does not allow the search to work.

As a work around, paste the Unicode into the navigator in tree box and then type a space or delete a space. Then the box thinks you are typing and will search and give you choices.

Finally, can we also search ‘NICK’ names?

Thanks for the good work.

Hi Doug!
We've tried the search with Unicode and it worked just fine.
Also, we've had perfect results when searching for entries of the "Given name" field.
Maybe it's a problem on your local computer. Do you use windows or anything else?

With kind regards, the itsourtree.com Team

The search is more convenient. The older search will search in Unicode but your newer search will not. Can you adjust that?

Also, can you search look at nick names also? It searches the display names as well as the surname and given name fields.
