That “claimed”-profile thing…

People keep asking us why they can no longer edit this or that profile.

In most cases, the answer is quite simple: The profile in question is “claimed”. Once someone you invited accepts your invitation and participates in building your family tree, he/she claimes the profile and is the only person who can edit or delete it. In your tree, profiles that have been claimed by your relatives no longer show the Profile button to you.

What would happen if someone with a claimed profile decide not to return to the website?
Could you create a Tree-Master role, or some access for other people to complete some new information about claimed profiles?

We had this problem the other day, where someone confused mails, and people had claimed the wrong profile, it’d be good if we can arrange that afterwards.

Thanks again for this great service you provide us all :)

    Hi Alex,

in that particular case you can write us an email and we’ll enable the claimed profile.

When you first sign up a pop up says you are emailing us a password to the email address that we provided. It never arrives….I have tried with 5 different email accounts, no password ever arrives. Without this temporary password, I can not create a permanent password and once I log off, I can not get back into my account. EVEN…if your system recognizes my email account and says “we just sent you a reminder”, nothing arrives…please send me a temporary password so I can get into my account.

    Hi,

Before I start I just want to say I am impressed with the website so far – it is relatively easy to use and very easy to navigate. I have a couple of suggestions that may be of use to other people.

Firstly, is there a way to turn off/on certain aspects of individuals profiles? There is some stuff I will never use so having the ability to “turn it off” in my account would be helpful (e.g. being able to turn off the Employment or Favourites tabs). If I ever needed it again I could simply turn it back on.

Secondly, are you thinking of adding a section where we can add scanned historical documents that are of value and interest about family members (e.g. old wills, family photos, newspaper articles, library archives etc.). We have a lot of old documentation on paper and am starting the process of scanning it all but would like to include relevant and important information about the family. I know you have a photo album section but it’s not quite what I was after.

    Thanks and regards,
    Scott

    Hi Scott,

    thank you for your feedback!

    1. Currently, there is no option to turn off certain aspects of a profile.

    2. A section for historical documents is definitely scheduled and will be released within the next 6-8 weeks.

    Kind regards,

    Hi guys

First I want to say that this is so far the best site in its range I have been to. It is user friendly and displays most of the important information.

I only want to ask how can I view my whole family tree. I mean how can I view my whole family tree with my wifes family tree?

    Regards

    De Wet Bester

    Hi guys

Further I only want to ask if it is possible to add the language “Afrikaans”.

    Regards
